October Presentation Topic
Abstract
The purpose of the Pain Bar language is to assist the client in directly working with the emotional states that causes a cognitive, emotional or somatic stress response. Education around neurobiology is integrated into the therapy to assist the client in understanding that their experience is normal and underpinned by neurological responses. The clinician then works to help the client develop a whole state of being through affect management in preparation for EMDR. Clients are encouraged to use mindfulness to identify when they are in their “emotional addiction” and learn skills to move through those emotions.
